Cast Your Bread Upon the Waters

My mother-in-law saved many photographs I sent her over the years.  This was a Christmas picture I took in 1985.  I love seeing my children when they were little.  And sweet.  And so well-behaved.  Washed up and in nice clothes.

1987 was the year.  Corinne was 4.  I wrote, "My partner at home now."  I loved that year.  I loved her, there are no words.  I made the dress, the pinafore, searched for the buttons.  She was such a joy.

Five months later I lined the kids up on the stairs and mailed out this photograph for Christmas.

The following year, I took this picture.  I don't have the kids in my house anymore, but the rug in the background is in my mudroom.

The following year, 1989, was the year Dave got a drivers license.  Can a vehicle be loved?  I loved that van.  The kids were being funny and wouldn't get in the car with Dave.  These kids all have their own kids.  Dave's and Jeff's kids are older than either of them were in this photo.  Time flies.  But we can travel back if we share pictures with relatives.
