Didja Hear? Melanie Got Accepted to BYU!

Melanie and her dad arrived yesterday.  This morning Melanie saw that the decision had been made about her acceptance into BYU.  She came up the stairs to share the letter with us as she read it for the first time.  Except she punked us and turned it into a sad story of a rejection.  Just as I was buying it, she began laughing.  Then she read the real letter.  It's funny now.

After breakfast, we decided to play Mexican Train.  This is a fun game with little kids.  We've been playing this with Dave's family since Melanie was very young.  It's different playing with all adults.  The games go fast.

Pretty much everyone remembers their turn.

Plus, we had fabulous conversations throughout all the games.

Our first winner was Papa!  Unfortunately, this was the only game he won.

Our next winner was Dave.  He refused to dance, but he did smile.

Melanie won the next four games.

In case you are wondering, this is penultimate.

This is the ultimate pen.

I finally won a game, and then it was time for lunch.

We went to my new favorite Japanese restaurant.

Matt has been several times with us.

I was very nervous that a list of this nature seemed to be necessary, but we talked about this throughout lunch.

With everyone's input, we ended up with this.  As I'm working on these pictures, Mel has gone to bed, but Dave and Papa have worked out the finer details.  Of course Melanie gets to make her own decision.  Of course.  Yes.  Definitely.  Sigh.

I love these kids so much.  We always have fun.  I won't tell you why Matt was timing Papa Ben, but it was hilarious.

My lunch was fabulous.

We shared sides.

This was Melanie's lunch.

After three sides of gyoza, this was the end.

I have a new book.  Everyone loves it.  Dave read it to Julia and Nate tonight as a bedtime story.  What a wonderful way to end the day!

Thank you, Julie. You're Welcome, Louie.

Did I really want to start this last post of Steve's visit with another picture of my groupies watching Star Trek?  I sure did.  We'...
