Pick-atarian

Mornings with company always start out with Dave's Chocolatea.

Homemade bagels are a given, too.

Dave made the eggs.  Once, one time, Dave mentioned he liked bacon.  Now, Ben and I both look forward to the only time we ever have bacon.

We had a fun time at breakfast.  I love these kids so much.

I am careful about asking people how they slept.  These days, they can't really say until they check their phones.

And then they share data.  I guess I will never know how I slept.

One of my favorite things in the world is sitting around the table and laughing with this family.

For real.

I could hear Jacob practicing after he finished his breakfast.  He's improved quite a bit since he spent a summer with us.

Dave and Ben chatted about our new tank.

In the meantime, Jacob and I played pool.

We all found fun things to do this morning.

After Matt and Mel arrived, we watched our ward's Sunday meeting.  Then we had our own small sacrament meeting.  This was week 52 for Ben and me.  I cried.

Lunch was next.  This was a birthday lunch.

I had help. Turns out Julia is a picky eater.  There is a word for that.

I tried something new -- I grilled jalapenos and put them on the burgers under the grilled red onion and the melted cheese.  I liked this a lot.  Maybe I was alone in my opinion.

Dave received many cards.  All were extremely clever.

We laughed and laughed.

Everyone seems to know Dave very well.

Dave appreciated every card.

Dave even received a few gifts.

Melanie sight-read some of my music and then played her own stuff.  She's fantastic, truly.  She's been practicing between her thermodynamics classes.

I did not take pictures every time I played pool.

I have waited a long time for this day.

After awhile we finished our celebration.  Julia was concerned that my favorite cupcakes don't need frosting.  Then she had a bite.

I do not believe that we will ever blow out candles on a large cake, ever again.  But kids still like to play with fire.  Jacob taught Nate how to light a match.

More pool happened.  Jacob is a good teacher.  The reason the balls rattle in the corner instead of going in is because I hit them too hard.  I've actually been working on hitting the balls harder.  Sigh.

While waiting her turn to beat me, Julia found my stacking dolls.  I can tell this week is going to be fabulous.

Thank you, Julie. You're Welcome, Louie.

Did I really want to start this last post of Steve's visit with another picture of my groupies watching Star Trek?  I sure did.  We'...
